The goal of post-partum services is to allow the home environment to be as calm as possible the first weeks after the baby is born. A calm home will permit the family to bond with the new baby. A calm home will also allow the mother to rest and recover so she is able to take care of the baby.

Service packages will be arranged for a two week period. Time of services will be determined the first day of service for the remainder of the two weeks, allowing for alterations as needed when possible. At the end of the two weeks a new contract may be negotiated.

Payment of services will be made in two installments. Half of the price of the entire package will be paid the first day of service and half of the price will be paid on the last day of service. Post-partum doula services will be billed at $18 per hour with a minimum of 6 hours of service per package. Hours in addition to the hours agreed upon in the initial package contract may be arranged when available in two to three hour blocks of time. Additional times must be paid for the day the service is rendered. If purchasing gift credit, all hours must be paid for in exchange for the gift certificate. More hours may be added at a later date to gift credit with a new gift certificate or an additional gift certificate issued. Overnight stays are available from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am at $100 a night.

Since I also work as a birth doula, I may be called away for a birth during the term of employment with you. If this happens you will be notified that I will be unable to attend your appointment and the missed hours will be rescheduled as soon as possible. My backup is always available to cover missed hours at your request.

As a post-partum doula I will do any of the following services as part of the package:
Provide breastfeeding support
Help instruct in newborn care
Help with sibling preparation and adjustment
Assist mother in self-care
Provide limited childcare of both newborn and siblings to allow mother to care for herself and bond with baby
Light housework
Meal preparation
Assistance with errands

Other duties may be negotiated on an individual need basis. It is helpful to me if you have a list of needs prepared for each meeting. During the two-week period you may contact me for telephone support at any time. Telephone support will not be billed as work time under normal circumstances. It may be helpful to telephone if you have items you need picked up so our appointed time may be most efficiently used. If I do purchase items for you during the course of employment please be prepared to reimburse me upon receipt of goods.
